Case Notes:

Ronald John Carroll is better known by his nickname "Steve" he was a stalwart warrior who has erred by wearing a tin medal on his left breast, with his genuine medals, . He served in Australia, Malaysia, Borneo, Vietnam and Papua New Guinea. For that service he wears eleven medals. He should wear only ten.

He wears:
Australian Active Service Medals (AASM)
General Service Medal 1918 (GSM)
General Service Medal 1962 (GSM)
Vietnam Medal (VM)
Australian Service Medal 1945 - 1975 (ASM)
Australian Defence Medal (ADM)
Defence Force Service Medal (DFSM)
National Medal (NM)
Tin Vietnam Medal aka Launcestion Medal (UNAUTHORISED TIN)
Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal (PJM)
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVCM)

The fourth medal in the second row is the tin Vietnam Medal, also known as the Launcestion Medal it was launched by a Tasmanian Vietnam Veterans Association at a conference in Launceston in 1996.

It is a shame that Carroll decided to attach the Launceston medal to his rack, and as we proceed without fear or favour, Carroll is declared a medals cheat.
