Adrian J. Kelly from Inglis Street, Mulwala, NSW, is right up there with other alleged famous war hero’s, that are named on this website. He falsely claims being a "Sniper" with the Australian Army Special Air Service Regiment (SASR), with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, with great stories of “daring do” , including being "stabbed and shot". He also informed others that he had his back broken in an explosion in Afghanistan, that required immediate casualty evacuation and return to Australia.

Kelly is a convincing liar and a “Love Rat”. He is a real "rotter".

KellyAdrian1

Kelly was born on the 4 September, 1983. He now works as an Arborist and resides in Mulwala, a small NSW country town on the Murray River, near the Victorian Border. He is also a part time model.

Kelly enlisted in the Australian Army about 2000. Unfortunately for Kelly, things did not go as planned, and he was discharged from the Army a few months later.

That was it!! All over red rover!!

We do not know what Kelly did then. We have "assumed" that he learned how to lop trees and smile for the camera, for his future modelling career.

We do know however, that he did not go to Iraq or Afghanistan in the SASR and fight the Taliban or anyone else.

In the past few years Kelly was fortunate enough to meet a vibrant young lady who was impressed with his stories of being a fully qualified “sniper” of the Australian SASR who fought the Taliban in Afghanistan. He informed her that he was deployed to Afghanistan twice, Iraq twice and East Timor once.

The below recent photograph is Kelly taken with his former partner, whose portrait has been deleted. This very respectable young lady has gone public on A Current Affair, so ANZMI are not disclosing anything that is not already out there in the public arena.

KellyAdrian2

He boasted of his medals and citations.

Kelly3

In the above photograph, Kelly falsely pretends that he is entitled to the medals displayed. The photograph depicts the medals from a reverse angle, but they are as follows from left to right.

1. The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Non-Article 5 Medal for the Balkans. NOT ENTITLED.

This is an unusual choice of medal for Kelly to have purchased.

ANZMI believe that he mistook it for the NATO - ICAT medal, (International Coalition Against Terrorism) or the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) shown below, which is issued to Australian Defence Force personnel who meet the criteria for that award.

Kelly3A

2. Australian Defence Force Medal. NOT ENTITLED.

3. Australian Service Medal. No Clasp. NOT ENTITLED.

4. Afghanistan Medal. NOT ENTITLED.

5. Australian Active Service Medal. No Clasp. NOT ENTITLED.

6. Queen Elizabeth 11 Diamond Jubilee medal. NOT ENTITLED.

He also claims personal and unit citations for bravery.

Kelly recently told his former partner, and others, that when he was in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban, he was in a desert for five days without food or water and that he had no contact with his unit. He stated that "he found a camel carcass and slept in it". At ANZMI, we believe, that he should have added a "bathroom", stayed there, and saved everyone a lot of trouble!!

He also told members of the local RSL Sub Branch, where he tried to ingratiate himself, that he was a former SASR sniper who was wounded whilst fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

ANZMI is also aware that he told numerous false heroic stories to other people, who believed his preposterous lies.

Kelly is a “Love Rat:” who preys on respectable ladies to gain favour. He is a low life and someone to be avoided. We are happy to give him some more publicity here, for his future modelling career and employment prospects.

This website has exposed other love rat frauds like Kelly.

Peter Kevin Jenkins, John Smets, and a few others, who are listed on this site, have similar modus operandi.

Kelly is a violent individual and according to her interview on A Current Affair, his then partner was assaulted by him for questioning his alleged Afghanistan military service.

Thanks to Channel 9, A Current Affair, for bringing Kelly to the attention of the public, ANZMI, and in particular, the veteran community. As veterans who have served in the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces, ANZMI appreciate your support to the values that we try to uphold.

Below is a photograph of Kelly with a Channel 9 Journalist, (portrait deleted), who was attempting to get answers from him for his lies and deceit.

Adrian J. Kelly will remain on this site for a long time to come. Ladies and RSL Sub Branches, beware !!

Case notes:

Meet Peter KELLY, former soldier, current author, councillor, political advisor and one-time professor at the now-defunct, Poseidon International University of Panama.  He is also reported to hold a doctorate in international business which was awarded to him by La Ruggerno University in Rome.

That’s not all.   Peter KELLY claims to hold a hereditary title from the Sultan of Sulu (no Scotty, not that Sulu), is a member of the Norman Academy and an honorary life member of the European Bioethics Centre in Rome.

Peter is the author of a couple of books of daring-do which some say are based loosely on himself.   However, that is not for us to say and nor do we wish to give his work any further publicity.   He is a current serving Councillor with the Ku-ring Gai Council and reportedly, an advisor to Senator Brian Burston (One Nation) on Veterans matters.

What has Mr KELLY done to earn a place on our website?

Here is an image of KELLY wearing an impressive rack of medals.  In this image, he appears to be doing everything right.   His own entitlement can be seen on his left breast, while on his right breast, he wears the medals of his brother.

Peter KELLY

What could possibly be wrong?  What has Mr KELLY done to deserve the ire of ANZMI? the reader asks.

To answer that, here is a comment made by KELLY about the medals he wears on his right side.   KELLY uses the social media name ‘Peter James’

KELLY 2

Here lies the problem for KELLY.   The medals he wears on right side which recognise the Vietnam service of his brother is a lie.   The medals he wears are those of Private William Nalder who we believe is KELLY’s cousin.

KELLY 3

2412151 Private W. L. Nalder of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment died of wounds on 8th July 1965.   Lest We Forget.

The policy of the Department of Defence and echoed by the Returned and Services League on the wearing the medals of a deceased Veteran is very clear.   Only the direct descendant of the Veteran is entitled to wear the decorations.   Cousins are not direct descendants.

If it were simply the case that he was wearing his cousin’s medals, that would be that.   Against the policy of the Governor General yes, but not a hanging offence.

Unfortunately, KELLY claimed that they are his brother’s medals and by doing so, received the support and sympathy of many people who believed KELLY had lost his sibling in Vietnam.   That was a lie, he is a valour thief of the worst kind

ANZMI has noted an alarming trend developing over the past few years as more and more Medal Cheats, Wannabe’s and frauds are appearing on the political scene as ‘Advisors on Veterans Matters’.   All with what seem to be good intentions, but in truth have axes to grind or are seeking to by-pass accepted protocols or medal entitlements for their own gain.

No doubt KELLY and Senator Burston’s other ‘advisor’ Mary Ann Martinek, who is now known as Mary-Ann Oaten (see ANZMI Home Page, will launch yet another tirade against ANZMI. However, we trust that Senator Burston will take the time to read our recent reports on those, who have surrounded him as advisors, or on the advice he has been given on other wannabe cases and reflect upon the validity of the counsel he is receiving.

Senator Burston needs to be made aware that ANZMI is not on a witch hunt, but rather reflects the wider views of the majority of genuine Veterans who have had enough of wannabes and frauds ingratiating themselves in our political system for their own means.

Let us hope that the wider community views these people for what they really are, self promoting individuals who are only out to feather their own nests.   They are unable to manage their own affairs, let alone the wider Veterans community.   Perhaps the politicians they work for will take notice, that is, assuming they have a genuine interest in genuine Veterans.

Surname: Kemp
Christian Names: Michael Cunningham
Country: West Indies
State or Province: Island
City or Town: St Lucia
Service: Nil
Case Notes:

Michael Cunningham KEMP, who runs a pub called the Captains Cellar in St Lucia, West Indies, made the mistake of bragging about his alleged military service both in the British 22 SAS and the Australian SAS to a tourist. A very bad mistake most wannabes make.

It just so happened that an Australian with knowledge of the Australian Defence Force was on holidays in St Lucia and having a drink or two at a pub there when he struck up a conversation with a person  who gave his name as Michael Cunningham KEMP and apparently told some tall stories.

See below the body of a Statutory Declaration provided.

Kemp was reported to us and we carried out investigations on receiving this information through SAS channels and found no evidence of him having served with the SAS. We also requested the service record for him through National Archives which resulted in no service record being found for Michael Cunningham KEMP having served at all with the Australian Defence Forces.

Another source, a book titled “The Pictorial History of the Australian SAS 1957-1997” lists all Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors with photographs shows that Kemp was never with the SAS.

It is doubtful whether KEMP has done any military service as he appears to have no knowledge of the command structure within the Australian Defence Force.

It makes no difference where you reside in this world, if you make false claims about having served in the Australian Defence Forces or wear Australian medals you are not entitled to, your time will come when you will be exposed.

Michael Cunningham KEMP will grace our web site for eternity and anyone visiting St Lucia can find KEMP at this link.

Surname: Kennedy
Christian Names: Darryl Charles
Country: Australia
State or Province: New South Wales
City or Town: Sydney
Service #: 218783
Service: Army
Branch: Royal Australian Infantry Corps
Case Notes:

Darryl Charles KENNEDY served as a Private Soldier with Support Company 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) in Vietnam between 17 May 1970 and 1 June 1971. He did twelve months of creditable service. He went on to serve a further long term with the Defence Force and we understand he continues to serve as a Special Constable in the New South Wales Police Force.

Kennedy

In the photograph he is wearing:

Infantry Combat Badge

Australian Active Service Medal

Vietnam Medal with Mention in Despatches (MiD) Oak leaf.   (Not Entitled)

Australian Service Medal

Defence Force Service Medal with Rosette for 20 - 24 years service

Australian Defence Medal

Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal

There is one problem with his medals and more problems with what he has said about his service:

He falsely wears the MiD emblem (Mention In Despatches).   He claims it was awarded to him for the brave act of "storming a machine gun nest" in Vietnam. This is fake and has been self-purchased and self-awarded.

The MiD, if genuinely awarded, would be recorded on Kennedy’s Defence records at the National Australian Archives or on his Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Vietnam Nominal Roll entry. It is not listed at either Department.

Kennedy

Many people do not understand the significance of the MiD, and do not realise that it is a prestigious award which is recorded as an ‘Honour’ on a persons Service Record and can be researched through the It’s ‘An Honour Website’ among others.

By placing the MiD on his Vietnam Medal, he is claiming recognition for an act of valour that he did not perform, or at the very least, was not considered worthy of recognition.

We have evidence that Kennedy has made numerous claims of service with the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) in Vietnam and other places. He falsely claims to have been wounded in action (WIA) in Vietnam by a phosphorus grenade during an enemy contact.   As with the MiD, there is no record of this occurring.   He cannot blame a glitch in the records, the Army has been recording WIA events for over 100 years.

For a man who has served his country in Vietnam with distinction and later as a member of the ADF, we can only wonder why he feels the need to embellish his service.   Like many wannabes on our website, Kennedy has made claims of daring do with the SASR such as being dropped off the coast of Darwin and paddled into estuaries dodging crocodiles.

Unfortunately for Mr Kennedy, the SASR has never heard of him.

We cannot imagine why a man of Kennedy's experience would want to cheat with a bravery award and falsely claim to have served with the SASR, but that is what he has done.   By his own actions, he has tarnished his genuine service history as well as his reputation.   By falsely claiming to have been awarded the MiD, Kennedy is committing offences under the Defence Act 1903:

DEFENCE ACT 1903 - SECT 80B

Improper use of service decorations

(1) A person is guilty of an offence if:

(a) the person wears a service decoration; and

(b) the person is not the person on whom the decoration was conferred.

Penalty: 30 penalty units or imprisonment for 6 months, or both.

As a Special Constable, a position which demands honesty and integrity, Kennedy has let himself and his peers down.   Let us hope that the appropriate authorities in NSW recognise his actions for what they are and take action against him.

Surname: Kent
Christian Names: Lance Kenneth Kyle
Country: Australia
State or Province: QLD
City or Town: Toorbul
Case Notes:

Live: 12 Nov 2013

Lance Kenneth Kyle KENT, of Toorbul in Queensland is a member of the Toorbul RSL Sub Branch.  We are reliably informed that Toorbul Sub Branch is a spin off Sub Branch of the Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch nearby.  Kent and a colleague are responsible for the administration of Toorbul RSL Sub Branch Chapter and we believe that they are the only two members.

Kent is a Tin Medal hero and a wannabee.  He is the First Officer for the Toorbul Rural Fire Service but wears three tin medals on his left breast that have been purchased by him as indicated below -;

Kent-1

In the photograph above, Kent is wearing from left to right,

Australian Service Medal 1945-75.  (Entitled)

National Medal with first clasp.  (Entitled)

Regular Forces Medal. (Not entitled, purchased)

Citizens Military Forces Medal.  (Not entitled, purchased)

Emergency Services Medal. (Not entitled purchased)

These are the self-purchased medals -;

Kent-2

Kent-3

Kent-4

Our investigations reveal that Kent served with the Citizens Military Forces/Australian Reserve Forces for a long period in a number of units.  This included a period on full time duty (FTD) with the Australian Regular Army.  He served in Papua New Guinea for some time and attained the rank of Sergeant.

He is also entitled to wear the National Medal with first clasp for his services to the Rural Fire Service. For the period of his military service, he is entitled to wear the Defence Force Medal, but for some reason he is not wearing that award.

His official medal entitlement is:

Australian Service Medal 1945-75 clasp PNG.

National Medal with first clasp.

Australian Defence Medal.

Kent has no doubt served his country and local community well.  Why he would want to embellish his military history by wearing three cheap tin medals with his official medals is a mystery that only he can answer.

It can only be to impress all those around him. The general public would not know they were tin, but genuine servicemen and veterans everywhere can identify bought medals at a glance.

These tin medals can be purchased in Medal Shops or over the internet for about twenty dollars.  They do not mean a thing if they have not been awarded officially.

Our advice to Kent is to remove them completely.  If he has an irresistible compulsive urge to wear unofficial  tin medals, then they should be worn on the right breast below any next of kin medals.

This is published in the public interest, veterans of all conflicts, in particular that of the Vietnam Veteran Community. All information presented here is fact and the truth. Reports from the private citizens are supported by statement of fact and statutory declarations.

Persons appearing on our site that are now deceased will not be removed, but the case will have the word "Deceased" placed next to their name when we are advised.

UPDATE 23 JUN 15

It is a special kind of wannabe indeed that fails to realise when his goose is cooked and Lance KENT definitely fits the bill.

Our initial exposure of KENT in November 2013 highlighted this Tin Medal Hero as a peacock in the Toorbul Fire Brigade in Queensland while we also revealed that he is also a member of the Toorbul RSL Sub Branch.

Since our exposure of KENT who was photographed wearing a mixture of tin rubbish and official medals, we find that our hero has obtained his Australian Defence Medal (ADM) and has gone to the trouble to have a ribbon bar made up.

Of course, our man knows nothing of the correct order of wearing his legitimate entitlement and appears in the photograph with his ribbon bar upside down.

Now, if this was his only indiscretion we at ANZMI would not have wasted time with this peacock’s story, but thankfully for us, and the wider veteran’s community, there are good people out there willing to report idiots like KENT.

It can be clearly seen in the photograph that KENT is wearing two rows of ribbons.   The first, with three ribbons is his correct entitlement, albeit upside down, meaning they are in the wrong order.   The top row of four contains nothing but tin rubbish that has no place anywhere near official medals.   The ribbons are those of the three tin medals we identified in our original exposure, the last is a tin commemorative Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee medal.

On his right side, KENT can be seen wearing the Queensland Citation awarded following the floods of 2011-12.   We can only assume he has an entitlement to that award and that he has not ‘self-awarded’ himself something else he has no entitlement to wear.

Note, we use the term manufactured and not ‘struck’ when referring to tin medals.   That is because they are nothing more that mass produced trinkets, whereas official medals awarded by State and Federal Governments are struck under Royal Warrant and treated with the dignity befitting our Honours and Awards.

Mixing tin rubbish with official awards, simply to make oneself look like a veteran with extensive operational experience is not only snubbing a nose at our Honours and Awards system, but is also offensive to the veterans community.   It is even more offensive when someone who should know better does it.   Tin medals are purchased by the individual and self-awarded.   They have no place being worn with official awards.

Let us hope that KENT does not have a training role in the Toorbul Fire Brigade where he could influence young firefighters who would believe him to be a more experienced veteran rather than the fraud he really is.

Let us also hope that the members of the Toorbul Fire Brigade and the Toorbul RSL Sub Branch read this exposure and take appropriate action against this peacock.

Stick to what you do best Mr Kent, selling raffle tickets and while you are at it, sell a few to raise money for veterans who earned their medals the hard way.

John Lochwood Kent is a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war.

Kent1

Kent wears five medals, they are:

Australian Active Service Medal (AASM) -   Entitled

Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal (VLSM) - Entitled

Defence Force Service Medal (DFSM) - Entitled

Australian Defence Medal (ADM) - Entitled

HMAS Sydney Medal - Unauthorised tin Medal

He earned two medals for service in Vietnam and two more medals for general service in the Navy.

Kent has purchased the unofficial HMAS Sydney medal to add a bit of weight to his rack. The public who know nothing about medals will be impressed, but veterans who can read medals are amused and disgusted by people like Kent. Here is the offending medal:

Kent2

His RAN records show he served in Vietnam for 41 days. The RAN counted the time from departing their last port in Australia until the time they arrived back at their first port in Australia. In fact he spent a total of less that 12 hours in Vietnam's Vung Tau Harbour aboard HMAS Sydney for the entire war, for which he was awarded two medals.

For those interested, all details of all ships involved are available for perusal at this website: https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/AWM78/

Below are anchoring details of one of the two voyages Kent did to Vietnam. Notice on his first voyage, HMAS Sydney dropped anchor at 0700 hours on the 15th February 1968 and weighed anchor five hours and twenty minutes later at 1225 hours on the same day.

We welcome another crew member aboard HMAS ANZMI.
