Bill Wirth makes genuine veterans either want to vomit copiously or laugh hysterically, he is the epitome of a lying wannabe:

Wirth

When contacted by a researcher he said "he did go to Vietnam in 1962, but as a 17 year old civilian who put his age up to 21 years", but "could not talk about it". .

Here from Statutory Declarations is what he has told others: inter alia

"Now as to my service record: Well you really should research your facts properly. Australia sent men to be assigned to, the Americans due to political pressure as early as 1962 nothing official of course. I was inducted into a training squad to be sent to Vietnam sort of unofficially. My entire association with the Australian army was for 6 months after which I was seconded to the American Vietnam task force and was with then for under 2 years. Mainly with a MACV SOG unit I am not proud of my service in Vietnam.  We didn't get involved in glorious brave battles a lot of what we did was assassinations or just plain murder. but mostly surveillance and intelligence gathering.

My association with the Australian army was not one I enjoyed. A few really salt of the earth types but a lot obnoxious arseholes too. All this was well before your time and names like xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, regular army guys and salt of the earth types were recruiting for the token Australian  contribution to the Americans  in Vietnam. And this was in early 1962!! I was 17. and I did need to, adopt another identity that was 21 to get in.. Now that is the truth of it whether or not you believe it or not  well frankly I do not care.

I agree with unmasking those who lie about their service but am wary about people who, like myself, don't appear on official records being unfairly accused. Although every pretender I know is always a real RSl stalwart strutting about with a chest full of medals they never earned. The few I do know that are  in the same boat as myself just keep a low profile and avoid RSL's and anzac marches etc. So that's that I guess".

Simply put, all that Wirth has said are ridiculous lies.

Wirth has convinced his family that he served as an Australian Soldier in a Secret American Army unit in Vietnam for two years. The unit claimed was Military Assistant Command Vietnam Studies and Observation Group (MACV SOG).    He has found that unit on the internet to fit his disgraceful lies.

MACV SOG was a highly classified, multi-service United States special operations unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations prior to and during the Vietnam War.

Further details are available here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Assistance_Command,_Vietnam_%E2%80%93_Studies_and_Observations_Group

Note that his time frame is wrong, he claims to have served 1962 - 1963 and 1964. MACV SOG was not implemented until January 1964.

His claims are "raw sewerage" and it is a pleasure to expose him as a liar who never at any time served with the Australian or American Army in Vietnam.

When speaking to the researcher he also said, "that because of the nature of his service the Australian Government had abandoned him and his mates and he could not claim any benefits from Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)". He also inferred that because he was not making claims from DVA he was not doing any harm.

One of the worst traits we find in wannabes is lying to their loved ones it is an act of absolute treachery. We believe it is to secure false succour to explain their atrocious behaviour, and is the ultimate betrayal of love and trust.

All those who have listened to Wirth's disgraceful lies must reassess their connection to him.

He will occupy space on this website and never be removed.
