Surname: Blanc
Christian Names: Alfred
Country: Australia
State or Province: QLD
City or Town: Finch Hatton
Case Notes:

Alfred (Fred) Blancborn on 2 March 1938 in Switzerland and now of Finch Hatton, Queensland arrived in Australia sometime during the late 1950s or early1960s aboard passenger ship ORANJE under General Assisted Passage Scheme. On arrival he worked as a Cook on the Snowy Mountain Scheme

When we investigated Alfred Blanc’s military history, contrary to Blanc’s claims we drew a blank.  This Swiss fondue exponent claims he served with the Australian Defence Force in Vietnam. But that’s not all, he was of course something special, as he served in the “Australian Intelligence Unit” in Vietnam.

Some Finch Hatton Returned Services League (RSL) members have been suspicious of Fred Blanc for quite a while. Finch Hatton RSL members have seen Fred wearing medals and have heard Fred tell stories of his “service” in Vietnam. The following anecdotes about Fred have been passed to us from Finch Hatton.

“Fred claimed he was in Australia less than a year when he was “called up for service” and  that the Military Police picked him up because he didn't front up. When he was enlisted he was allocated to Intelligence Corps as an interpreter because he could speak French.

Fred must have studied hard for his wannabe role because his knowledge of weapons in Vietnam is spot on and he fitted in well with some of the RSL members,  He claims to have been at Fire Support Base Coral on the 13 May 1968 in the Bien Hoa Province of Vietnam.

He claims he was in a “hot helicopter extraction” and he had to wait for a second chopper when there was not room to take them all.

He even got a bloke to come to the RSL Anzac Breakfast and told the RSL members his guest was a Veteran like him, the poor fellow was a tradesman and had never been near the armed forces in his life.   Later when we talked to this bloke he admitted the deception and said he was so embarrassed when someone asked him what it was like “over there” that he had to say that it was something that he didn't  want to talk about."

Since Blanc came under suspicion at the RSL he always finds a reason for not participating in commemorative occasions and of course it upsets him to talk about his war experience. Blanc claims to speak four languages. Blanc also speaks a fifth language and that is the language of liars and wannabes.

We have confirmed that Blanc does not have a Defence Service File at Central Army Records Office (CARO) See below:

Dear Mrs xxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for your query about the service records relating to the following servicemen:

Alfred BLANC

Post-WWII Army records are held by the Central Army Records Office (CARO). They have advised us that they were unable to locate a Post 1947 Army Service record for this individual. We provided them with the following information:
Name:                           Alfred BLANC             Date & place of birth:      1938-1939, Switzerland

CARO Reference Officer

Access & Communications

Blanc does not appear on the official, Department of Veterans Affairs Nominal Roll, which he explains away as being, because he was in an Intelligence unit. Sorry Blanc you are a liar.  All Army Intelligence personnel are listed on the Nominal Roll along with all of those who served in other sensitive units including the Special Air Service Squadrons.

Blanc has two medals to exhibit he claims one is for Vietnam and the other for Intelligence.  Obviously it is not for his own intelligence as he appears totally devoid of that basic asset.

Blanc most likely had an interesting life, but for reasons known only to wannabes, he decided to improve his image by adding a little clandestine war service to the mix. In doing so he is hereby exposed on our web site where he will remain for the rest of his life.

There is no need for any further suspicion from the Finch Hatton RSL because Blanc is well and truly “outed” as a liar and a wannabe.

Liars and wannabes are very welcome on our site, most of them are so dopey they almost march up to us and say “make me infamous”

Blanc is one such simpleton
